Our commitment to sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability is more than a responsibility, it’s an opportunity. As an industry leader, we’re uniquely positioned to evolve the way we work to achieve our sustainability goals and help our customers achieve theirs. By doing that, we can have a much broader impact and affect change on a global scale.

Now is the time for ambitious action and to invest in the future of our business in our ever-changing world. Working together with our customers, employees, and partners, we know we can create new innovations that improve our shared spaces, leaving them cleaner, safer, and healthier.

To achieve this, our sustainability framework, “Thriving People. Healthy Planet” starts with the foundational interconnection between people and planet – because we know our business cannot be successful without a healthy planet and thriving people.

Thriving People

Our success as a business relies on people – our employees, our customers, our partners, and our communities. Our Thriving People pillar addresses impact areas where we can positively impact people and communities through our products and ways of working.

  • Employee success: We will ensure the health, safety, well-being, and development of all our employees and continually support diversity, equity, and inclusion in our company.
  • Social impact: We will work to improve the lives of people we engage with outside of our company, including the workers in our supply chain, the operators who use our products, and the local communities where we operate.
  • Shared spaces: We will partner with our customers and other stakeholders as we reinvent how the world cleans to enhance the health, safety, and well-being for all who use and rely on our collective and shared spaces.

Healthy Planet

We are proud of our legacy of stewardship. We have built a culture that strives to leave things better than they were. The Healthy Planet pillar within our strategic framework builds on our culture of stewardship as we expand our impact and consider the ways in which we can improve our natural environment and address global challenges.

  • Climate & Energy: We will contribute to global decarbonization by achieving net-zero GHG emissions in our operations and reducing emissions in our supply chain, and increasing our product energy efficiency, offering our customers solutions that will eliminate GHG emissions from the use of our products. Our investment in solar panels for all 5 of IPC plants located throughout Italy is an example of initiatives that fall under this impact area. Once fully operational, it will generate 2,300 megawatts of power which will reduce our carbon emissions by about 40%.
  • Water & Chemical Use: We will improve water stewardship in our operations and continue to design products that require fewer cleaning chemicals and less water to clean.
  • Circular Products & Waste: We will design our products with an enhanced focus on repair, serviceability, replacement of parts, recycling, and recovery of materials, and we will adapt our manufacturing processes to reduce waste, helping to close the loop on the lifecycle of our products.
The product certifications listed below are an example of initiatives that fall under this impact area.

Sustainability Certifications

In alignment with UNI EN ISO 14067:2018, we certified the carbon footprint of some of our products. Utilizing the ISO 14067 requirements, we calculated the total amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) that these products emit throughout their entire life cycle.

The Green Cleaning Efficiency label identifies the scrubber dryer machines that have high cleaning efficiency whilst using the least amount of energy and water. It’s based on Technical Specification TS 35000 and international standard IEC/EN 62885-9.

REMADE in Italy® is the environmental certification of products that quantifies the content of recycled materials in semi-finished and finished machines.
Our registered trademark, Black is GreenTM, identifies the usage of exclusive, high-quality recycled plastic in some of our vacuums and tool products. It also identifies a range of recycled plastics used from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 65% for IPC vacuums and from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 100% for tools.

The EU Ecolabel is the European Union’s eco-label featuring products that stand out for a reduced environmental impact throughout their life cycle and provide high performance standards as well.
The EU Ecolabel is a voluntary labeling scheme established by the European Union to promote environmentally friendly products and services. The primary aim of the EU Ecolabel is to help consumers identify products and services that have a reduced environmental impact. It sets criteria that products must meet in order to be awarded the label, covering aspects such as energy efficiency, resource consumption, emissions, packaging, and waste management.
